ME 218A: SPI Jetpack Trainer

On a team of 3, we built a jetpack arcade game and programmed a PIC32 to take input from a joystick, emergency lever, and shoot button to produce output on a dot matrix screen and fan exhaust. The objective of the game is to move around on-screen using the joystick and shoot button to collect payloads, occasionally pulling the emergency parachute on a timer, until the player collects enough payloads prior to timeout. ME 218B: Basketball Bot

On a team of 3, we programmed 3 PIC32 microchips via SPI (one leader, two followers) and built a robot that could detect an IR beacon at a bucket’s backboard 8 feet away, orient itself toward the bucket, reverse into the reload position until hitting a limit switch, move forward to the shooting position (~2 feet from the bucket), launch balls via a pre-loaded rack and pinion mechanism, and then reload balls in the queue.
